What chance do arguments have to rise and fall on their merits if they’re framed by a seemingly party-owned press? And once that party comes to power, won’t its lackey journalists constitute a type of state-owned press? In other words (after Inauguration Day), how can the blushing news media keep from sharing President-elect Barack Obama’s political bed - given they have already serviced his electoral needs?

In all three presidential debates, some pivotal facts have been grotesquely obscured. The very law that Democrats cite as the reason for our current financial mess, and the one for which they blame Sen. John McCain, is a law that he opposed and they supported [-] along with the majority of both Republicans and Democrats that included Sen. Barack Obama’s running mate, Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware. Democratic Nominee Senator Barack Obama said in his convention speech that the promise of America is, “the idea that we are responsible for ourselves, but that we also rise or fall as one nation; the fundamental belief that I am my brother’s keeper; I am my sister’s keeper.” Now the easiest criticism to launch against Mr. Obama is the charge of hypocrisy given that his own brother lives in a Kenyan shack on a dollar a month and receives no assistance from his famous sibling. More perilous though is the collectivist message that he and his supporters send, i.e., provide the needy with a floor by oppressing the rest with a ceiling. However, their modus operandi is far more nefarious: “Vote for us and we’ll take from others in the name of giving to you - thus ensuring your motivated reliance upon our electoral success.”

In the name of protecting the environment from increased gas consumption, Democratic leaders oppose the price-cutting strategy of more off-shore drilling while concurrently arguing that OPEC should do it for us. Doesn’t this neutralize the very environmental protection they’re hoping to secure by opposing domestic drilling?
It’s like we’re in a bizarre segment of Jeopardy: “Alex, I’ll take schizophrenia for $200.”
