In the name of protecting the environment from increased gas consumption, Democratic leaders oppose the price-cutting strategy of more off-shore drilling while concurrently arguing that OPEC should do it for us. Doesn’t this neutralize the very environmental protection they’re hoping to secure by opposing domestic drilling?
It’s like we’re in a bizarre segment of Jeopardy: “Alex, I’ll take schizophrenia for $200.”

The Supreme Court openly violated their separated powers under the Constitution by defying Congress’ Article I, Section 9 authority to suspend habeas corpus “when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it.” Congressional Democrats cheer the decision because it provides them with political cover for what they could not accomplish legislatively – their preference to execute a battle as you might an indictment, and prosecute a war as you might a trial. This once co-equal branch has morphed into a tyrannical tree and President Bush has foolishly said that he’ll “abide by their decision.”

The cost of oil is high because our knowledge of how to combat it is low, and the media has blossomed into the greatest enabler of this collective shortcoming. Yes, behemoths like Exxon/Mobil, Shell, and Texaco are valid culprits to blame when bemoaning our corrosive energy prices. However, we’re forgetting about the environmentalists’ role and their strange-bedfellow alliance with the very nemesis they castigate – oil companies. By blocking refineries from getting built, environmentalists increase the value of oil because they’ve rendered it less accessible. Oddly enough, they provide petroleum giants with the very scapegoat necessary to validate their high profits – an easy reference to the “laws of supply and demand.”

On Monday April 28th, I was seated directly in front of Rev. Jeremiah Wright at the National Press Club as he recommitted himself to the very bigotry-laced anti-Americanism that his most famous long-time parishioner, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, had contended were feelings the reverend no longer possessed. Exactly one month earlier on ABC Television’s “The View,” Mr. Obama argued that he wouldn’t have stayed with Trinity United Church of Christ had the reverend “not acknowledged that what he had said had deeply offended people” and was “inappropriate.”
